BUILDING BLOCKS
What are the technological elements to automate processes and build an intelligent enterprise?

Data Analytics: either in preparation for identifying patterns, decision trees or advanced statistics that could be leveraged, e.g. data-driven automation of decisions. Or as real-time analysis of incoming data for predictive modelling to recommend and instigate preventive actions.

Document Analysis: a combination of OCR and AI-based Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Natural Language Understanding (NLU) to extract intent, and data (i.e. key value pairs) out of complex documents to digitise them for further automatic processing.

Chatbot: automated conversations and data exchange between machine and human where the chatbot can bring in various data and information from other systems thereby generating a superior handling of, for example, queries (internal or external). Chatbots can be text- or voice based (text-to-speech).

Decision support: see above – on application of data analytics.

Block chain: the controlled execution of of transactional processes for high transparency and trust for all stakeholder.

AI – artificial intelligence:
the usage of neural networks as the basis for machine-learning algorithms for a wide variety of use cases. The objective is the automation of human cognitive skills, i.e. evaluation, reasoning and decision making. Example: image recognition, making of complex decisions.

BPMS – Business Process Management Suite:
an application platform to design and implement an automated process and/or value stream. It plays a central role as it connect through APIs to the other building blocks and builds together with these elements the platform needed for the intelligent enterprise, in particular if hosted in the Cloud.

Combination and integration of
technologies is key !

1 + 1 = 3

The challenge is to find the right combination for the right process to generate the digital value stream(s)
that best matches supply & demand.

This requires skills, experience, technology understanding and business acumen.
