How to transform into an intelligent enterprise and which principles apply
At the core of the transformation into an intelligent enterprise is the transformation of processes, which in turn is a process as explained below.
This core is underpinned by a technology base, that is a portfolio of automation technologies that will be applied to intelligently automate the processes in scope.
The transformation of processes and hence of the entire enterprise is guided by a digital strategy that advices which processes have to transformed in which order and how each transformation contributes to the overarching goals of establishing an intelligent enterprise to ensure sustainable growth.
Despite the focus on automation or just because of this focus the people remain the most valuable asset of any company. Their commitment to change and their input into the design of the new processes is vital.
Scoping
-Why and where to start with the process/enterprise transformation?
–What is the current and desired future state and the delta?
-How could the transformation of processes help to close the delta?
-Where in the enterprise are the biggest problems?
-Which solutions to the various problems have the highest potential, i.e. what should be in scope?
Analysis
High level process analysis to qualify & quantify automation potential
Detailed process analysis where solution know-how is applied to focus and ideate at an early stage
Establish a first roadmap from MVPs, incremental improvements to larger transformation initiative
Initial validation of ideas in terms of business impact, complexity and feasibility
Implementation
Detailed design – documented, understood by all parties and sufficiently tested

Ideally platform-based implementation
Establish in parallel to the technical implementation the required (new) skills within the organisation – build new knowledge centers
Ensure ownership of and commitment to what is new – think and plan for the future!
